Sanderson Insurance Brokers was established in 1972 providing general insurance and specialising in the crane and earthmoving industries.

The majority of clients serviced by Sanderson are commercial and industrial, mostly engineering and construction, and with a focus on crane and earthmoving business.

In 1988 the company formed Underwriting Agencies of Australia (UAA) to market the specialist crane and plant policy to the broker market.

In 2008 QBE Insurance (Australia) Limited purchased UAA and Sanderson Insurance Brokers and in 2009 the company co-located with the fellow Austbrokers business, the Markey Group to become Austbrokers Sanderson.

Austbrokers Sanderson personnel share certain administrative resources with Markey whilst continuing as a separate business.
